Homage to Great Masters

When we look at the creations of the great painters of the past, we cannot help but feel the visual grayness of today. Despite the limitless wealth of shades in the colors of the plasma or the perpetual ability of digital cameras to reproduce color — we are still amazed by their creations. At the same time, the fact that we exist in the midst of global visual ennui turns us into unwilling witnesses, and maybe even drives us to search in other eras and times.

It is clear to me that all of them — Bosch, Caravagio, Zurbaran, Delatour — expressed totally different worlds from mine with traditions of knowledge, society and of viewing the world with which we have nothing in common. However, at the same time, the hidden strength in their creations breaks through their time frame and creates visionary symbols that illuminate Western culture completely, influence and invite dialogue — the same dialogue that a number of artists of our day have lead.
